Initial interview with a recruiter.. usual recruiter questions, which were fine, but the second part of the interview was horrible. He asked a series of technical questions which the tech team provided to him, and took notes (or the call was recorded) to share back to the engineering team. These were all quite specific but high level questions like "what's the difference between an interface and an abstract class".. I found it very difficult to articulate my answers to somebody who knew nothing of which I was speaking - so much of communication comes from the back and forward of a normal conversation, and answer questions like this really threw me.

Weird and unfair experience at and after the very first interview with a specific Senior Talent Acquisition Manager. The interview meeting invite email clearly mentioned (in bold letters) that as part of this interview - "We will also be going through some technical questions that will give us an understanding of your knowledge with C# .Net, Web & Database topics" - for which I had prepared as well. But during the actual Interview, there were just high level talks, very few casual questions on experience and NO technical questions asked at all, just a "Thank you for talking with us" and said that they would mail me the next steps in a couple of days. Then a couple of days later, received a Rejection email. I mean why waste candidate's time and efforts if you are not serious about giving them a fair chance to let them move to next rounds, and just filling your timesheets. Unprofessional and fishy to say the least.

I applied online and had a first-round screening about two weeks later, conducted over a Teams meeting. It was a mix of general and technical questions, all asked by the HR representative. He was upfront about not having a technical background and mentioned that he would simply ask the questions and pass along my responses to the technical team for review. At the time, I wasn’t well prepared — it was the first interview I had since restarting my job search, so I was a bit caught off guard. That said, it was still a good experience overall.

First interview was with a talent specialist. We talked about my experience, and it was quite casual and easy. Then he went on to ask a series of technical questions that he had been provided by the tech team, with my answers being transcribed to be sent to the engineering manager. I found this part weird at best.. the person on the other side of the Zoom call had no idea what I was talking about, so it was hard to gauge if I was answering the question sufficiently or not, or when was enough. My advice: try to practice your answers to these questions, as it's hard to answer when it's not in a conversational type setting.
