I interviewed for a Chief of Staff role at Qualcomm and honestly the experience was quite disappointing.
One of the questions I was asked was if I had to buy a TV what would I see and how would I choose. I understand companies sometimes ask abstract questions but this felt completely irrelevant to the role. It did not assess anything related to strategy leadership or execution which are actually critical for a position like this.
What was more concerning was that the interviewer did not seem experienced enough to evaluate candidates for such a high responsibility role. It felt unfair to be assessed by someone who did not have the context or depth required for a Chief of Staff position.
Overall the experience left a very poor impression on me. For a company like Qualcomm I expected a much more structured and relevant interview process. Instead I was genuinely shocked to see a hiring culture like this.
I hope the company reflects on how it conducts interviews for senior roles because candidates deserve a fair and meaningful evaluation.
