This was the lengthiest interview process I’ve ever come around in my career. This process started off with me applying to the job on LinkedIn, then hearing back that I’ve been selected to do a video recording of my own responses on Hirevue about a day later. The 4 questions were why do I want to join Progressive, describe my work history and reasoning for leaving each position, favorite/least favorite position and why, a time I helped someone learn something new at work. Once I submitted the video, I heard from the recruiter the next day and scheduled a 60min video interview where we went over my resume, and asked a couple of STAR questions. The recruiter said it was going to be two interviews, a technical round and manager round. He then passed my info along to the manager and I received confirmation the next day that the manager wants to move along and scheduled a 60min technical interview. In the technical round, I was interviewed by the team lead and it seemed like he wasn’t prepared with a list of questions and rather making them up as he went and hypothetical scenarios which I kept asking for clarification. Questions like what windows function would I use in this scenario, explain a pipeline I’ve built and how I would improve it. I heard back by the end of the week and I received an email saying there were 3 STAR 60min interviews left with team. 3 more STAR situational interviews with the team is excessive, especially for an hour each. I spent so much time preparing for the previous 3 rounds since they emphasized STAR so much and when I got the email for 3 more interviews I was devastated. 1 with the manager, 1 with BI developer and analyst, 1 with manager from data science and manger from data analysis. This is not even a higher up executive position to be interviewed so much and salary isn’t crazy either to justify this. This process is just so out of touch and robotic. I’d hate to work somewhere like this, I would’ve been exhausted in preparation before even starting the job. I took a job offer elsewhere in a heartbeat and dropped out of this process. Progressive can keep their 6 round process all they want.
