I was thrilled to secure an interview with Priority VA for one of their part-time remote positions. Their LinkedIn ad was very descriptive and intriguing. The job I applied for seemed tailored to my interests and qualifications.
My remote interview went so well that I was offered my choice between two open positions. The recruiter outlined my next steps of the hiring process and ensured she would be in contact before the weekend. When I didn't hear back, I sent a follow up email and received no reply. Three weeks later, I received an automatic email informing me that the position had been filled.
While some rejection is to be expected when applying for jobs, I was actually offered a position during my interview and then essentially ghosted by the recruiter. In retrospect, it has occurred to me that the recruiter may be inexperienced and unsure of how to close an interview on a positive note that doesn't include a job offer and next steps. More clarity and professionalism here would have been appreciated in this puzzling situation.
