First interview was with the head of development, described to be a pre-interview chat which in actuality was an interview. I was then invited to a second interview with the executive director, but after telling the head of development I was newly pregnant, the offer was rescinded. I had told her this over email and she called to discuss how I planned to manage motherhood and the job; she decided I could not do both. I felt it was important I be honest about my situation although I knew I risked being rejected, despite that technically being discrimination. I had simply asked for one month off without pay to recover from the birth, which I thought was reasonable. It was not worth it to me to pursue a discrimination case and I instead focused on finding a position with an org that was not threatened by my status as a mother.
