      Entretien

I want to make this as thorough as possible. I wish I had known what I was in for when I went in for my interview. The interview took a full hour and I was interviewed by 2 men. The men asked me several questions, including why I applied for this position, why I wanted to work in sales, where I see myself in 3 years. They asked me of the 2 men who are interviewing me, whose team I would rather be on, which I felt was weird. They saw I am bilingual and asked me which religion I am a part of. Yes they asked me that. I was very shocked. I told them as kindly as I could that they shouldn't be asking that kind of question. That seemed to poison the rest of the interview with a negative tone unfortunately. The men then seemed very short with me. Be prepared to have fake role play phone calls, with no instruction on what to ask for, selling the product to a pretend customer. Had I known this I would have prepared myself with pointed, probing questions. But without knowing I'd be role playing and with no more instruction than "Hey we are going to do a fake role playing phone call to sell Pluralsight" it was not the best I've ever done. I really wish they had given me some insight into what they are looking for. After I did my first "phone call" one of the men told me "Your probing questions were terrible" and that was his feedback. There was no more instruction given and they made me role play like this 4 more times, 5 in total. So, BE PREPARED TO SELL WHEN YOU WALK IN THE DOOR. They are looking for the following types of questions, "How large is your company?, How large is your team?, How would you use Pluralsight service?, What are some challenges you are looking to solve?, Do you already have a budget allocated?, Are you looking at other companies to help solve this/these problems?", etc. While they critique your attempts to sell in the role playing exercise, they will be critiquing your ability to be coached and receive criticism. At least, that's what they told me when I was finally done with the role play. The men asked me if I was interviewing with other companies and I said yes. They then asked me specifically where I was interviewing. Again, I found this strange. What difference does it make where else exactly I am interviewing? I told them that it seemed to me a strange question and they both grew upset. It was very awkward. They asked me questions about my hobbies and personality as well. I was offered a job but declined. The interview process was invasive, they asked illegal questions, and I am not impressed with the sales department. But, this is not indicative of other departments as I know people who work there who had a positive experience. That being said, the Sales department needs serious help.
