      Entretien

Just got an email after interviewing at Pluralsight asking me to share feedback on the interview process. Oh boy, do I have some. Might as well post here too. Round 1 with the recruiter over the phone. Was fine. She scheduled Round 2 with the hiring manager. The link for the Round 2 video interview didn't work. What followed was a bit of comical confusion; apparently the recruiter had been fired between rounds and it was her link. Not a great look and no one communicated a thing to me, but I jumped into a new link after connecting directly with the hiring manager. We had what I thought was a nice conversation, with her seeming to agree with many of my responses. After some time I began to notice what I felt was a lack of preparation on her end for our interview. Boilerplate questions, didn't seem engaged or very interested in our conversation. In any case it was pleasant (or so I thought) and that was that. I did the standard follow up thank you email and checked in 1 week later and then at 3 weeks later. Never heard a peep back. Ghosted. So rude and unprofessional given I had taken the time to apply and jump through those interview hoops. I have no idea what happened and I guess never will. The hiring manager seemend nice and I was really surprised at her lack of professionalism. I guess it's "who cares" .. until it's you over there. The silver lining is I've lined up something much better. I guess if you need a job, do what you have to do, but based on my experience, reviewing their product, and hearing what others have to say about working there, I feel like I dodged a bullet. I just wish we could agree to not ghost. It's just rude. Hopefully the recruiter lands on her feet, she was cool.

The laziest one of all: "So, tell me about yourself."

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We want to apologize for the lack of communication and professionalism you experienced during the interview process. Your frustration is valid and we agree that being left without any follow-up, especially after you’ve invested your time and effort into the process, is unacceptable. We’re actively working to improve our communications process to ensure a smoother and more transparent process moving forward. We’re also continuing to support our hiring managers with the resources and preparation they need to create a consistent and engaging experience for every candidate. We sincerely appreciate the time you invested in the process and the perspective you’ve shared. We wish you all the best in your new role. - Dani Foust (Director of Talent Acquisition)

It was a great casual discussion that was a real chance to tell a story and not canned questions. The recruiter was excellent in how to handle a fluid conversation.
