      Candidature

J'ai postulé via un recruteur. Le processus a pris 4 mois. J'ai passé un entretien chez Perch Interactive (New York, NY) en janv. 2019

      Entretien

I have been pitched by a recruiter to try at this "amazing" state-of-the-art startup. I went through the phone screen, and received a take home interview which was to be done in vanilla javascript. I don't think the task was difficult, however it was long and tedious. I have put over 30 hours into it, and was invited to come on-site. Once I arrived, I was interviewed by the CTO and the Tech Lead. They simply asked me questions about where I'd like to work on their stack and how proficient am I in cloud technologies. I believed it went well, as they mentioned they'll be working on making me an offer "in 2 days, 3 tops." I was glad, as it seems like they have made their decision on the spot. Fast forward one week, no offer. After weeks of radio silence, recruiter mentioned that they're "still thinking about it, but you're on the higer end of their range. They're still evaluating other candidates." To expect someone to "hang" for over a month is absolutely unacceptable. The thing is, I have heard from recruiters and developers that this is not an isolated case. Blatant disrespect for their candidates.

Let's start with: Sorry this was such a long, difficult process. We are a start up and working on making a great product; anyone who has done that knows it is an all consuming process and sometimes, in the early stages, timing goes off the rails because you are focusing on multiple things and there are not enough hours in the day or people in the office to get everything done. The timing- length of the interview process here- was way off. We just unveiled our largest deal to date, with Macy's, moved offices and I recently joined to help with all things HR, including length of the interview process, assignments, etc. We are working on all of this and appreciate the feedback- hard as it is- so that we can do better. Thank you.
