1. Technical Communication Gap: It appeared the interviewer was not well-versed in product analytics, which made it difficult to bridge the gap between my technical answers and her expectations. Rather than allowing for a full explanation of my prowess, she frequently interrupted my responses. When I politely asked for clarification on certain prompts to ensure I was meeting her needs, she was unable to elaborate beyond the initial text.
2. Misaligned Tone regarding Transparency: In an effort to be helpful and transparent, I mentioned having a competing offer to see if we could align our timelines. I explicitly shared my high interest in this team—even expressing a willingness to discuss a more junior title or a lower compensation structure than my other offer. Unfortunately, this gesture of flexibility seemed to be perceived negatively rather than as a sign of my genuine commitment to the company.
3. Candidate Experience: The overall tone of the interview felt somewhat dismissive. While I understand that HR operates within fixed salary caps and specific mandates, the lack of a collaborative or welcoming atmosphere made it difficult to have a productive professional dialogue.
