It is a very standard interview process. A brief phone screening from HR, one with the hiring manager, a 2 hour in-person. I did not have a negative experience with the people I spoke to during the interview process. However, please be warned that their system is awful. I would get text messages congratulating me on moving to the next round before I ever heard from anyone (and mostly, it took several days for someone to follow up with what exactly the next round even was). It was long, drawn-out and when it was over, the entire Paychex team went radio-silent before an automated message came around. I sent a final "Thank you for the experience" email which again, went ignored. In my experience interviewing at many companies, this is one of the worst places for candidate treatment so just, be prepared for that. My best advice would be to play into the egos at hand.

Overall Interview process was kind of lengthy but very good as it allowed me to interview future managers, coworkers, and get a better feel for the team/company culture. Everyone that interviewed me including recruiter was friendly, informative, pretty laidback, and communicated in a timely manner. FYI- all in-person interviews were conducted through video due to COVID. Process : -Applied summer of 2020 via LinkedIn . -2 weeks later, I received an email from a senior talent acquisition person asking to set up 20 min intro call. Be prepared to discuss background, interests, and provide salary expectations. -1 week after the intro call I received an email from the hiring manager asking for availability for a 30 min call. Mainly discussed background/experience, why the change, and maybe one or two minor detailed technical questions relating to the job. Was informative and clear and discussed what the next steps might look like, if any. - 1 business day after the call with the hiring manager I received an email from the director asking to do 30 min video call. -1 business day later I got a email from the hiring manager asking about availability of a 2-hour window for the final round of interviews which includes interviewing with a few close team members, head of marketing, and again with the hiring manager. Meeting with team members was more high level and was asked questions about team work, new ideas, why the change, and discussions around my questions. This time the hiring manager asked more situational/ behavioral questions along with technical things like explain a time when you faced a challenge? how did you combat it and what was the outcome? Also, a question or two on time management/project management. It's clear from the start if the interview process that cultural fit/ team fit is a very important and they do get a feel for this throughout the whole process. Nothing to aggressive or too challenging in the final round but the again I have almost 10 years worth of experience and hundreds of interviews so what is average for me may be quite difficult for someone else. At the end of the final rounds was told they are interviewing others and they'll be in communication regarding next steps within the next week or so. - 1 week later received an email saying they are very interested but are still finalizing the process and will follow up soon. -1 week later received another email from HM apologizing that it's taking so long but they will regroup and will follow up the next week. -About a week and a half later received an email from HM that they would like to extend and offer and asked availability to get on a call to discuss. -Because I Negotiated that took about a week or so and then once agreement was reached a day or 2 later received the offer letter via email. -During the agreement offer call with HR was told background check and all that will take another week or two and start date would be in at least 2-3 weeks. -Within days of offer you get email to submit a formal application for the role, background check links, and other requested information such as I-9. Overall, the interview process was good and better than most companies I have interviewed at. I rated this as average in difficulty but I have a lot of interview experience and even read books on interviewing so am used to the behavioral/situational questions and scenarios. Others might be as experienced so they might not be ready to expect those questions and therefore it will be more challenging. Overall interview experience was good and appreciate being able to ask all of my questions and it felt like good people work here.
