Rescinded application after initial phone screen with an internal recruiter, as the subsequent application document they provide is not compatible with California medical cannabis patients, since it requires agreement to work in a drug-free workplace under local, state, and *federal* laws. It seems more care could be taken with said application document as well, since the PDF provided is not a form to be filled (digitally), and requires either annotation legwork (and associated sloppiness), or the ownership of a printer. Lastly, the information they "require" on said application document is a rather aggressive when it comes to the data points collected, and feels a bit "data mine-y", e.g. starting and ending salaries for prior three jobs.

Thank you for this feedback on your experience. We’re currently working on modernizing our employment application. We know the interview process can sometimes be time consuming and we appreciate the effort our candidates devote to opportunities with us. We hope to provide a hassle-free, digital application in the near future. We ask for extensive salary history to ensure that, if we make an offer, that offer is fair, reflects the candidate’s career goals and aligns with market trends.

I applied two times in between 8 months apart for the same job. While I found a job, I like to keep my options open for new exciting challenges. Both times, I dealt with the same recruiter, and both times I was treated with hostility with this same person. This company needs to either re-train this recruiter to have a pragmatic and realistic view on actual human being hiring or they need another recruiter that can know how to recognize talent and source them. While I understand this recruiter only has less than a year of real world work experience and a fairly recent college graduate, her attitude of finding the perfect candidate is not realistic. She wants X,Y, and Z made ready, and perfectly molded and made for her company, and that itself is not possible. This could explain why it this role has not been filled for 8 months. Behind the scenes, as a hiring manager myself, if I were that hiring manager on that team, I would be anxious to get someone on board instead of waiting for this recruiter to find the candidate I need to do the work. I'm overworked, underbudgeted, and not meeting my target deadlines for my company. Upper management would already be up my hair about the results not being fully delivered, and I would be putting some of that lbame on this recruiter because my work is at a full stop on a few of those projects.

Thank you for taking the time to get these thoughts down. PayJunction embodies a senior engineering culture. We have high expectations of our team and we operate with a near-zero margin of error due to the nature of our product and services. It’s important to us that the ethical values and quality expectations we built this company on are maintained as we continue to grow. Similarly, we run a small team. Our team is responsible for details that, at a larger company, other staff might handle. We seek engineers who are willing and able to contribute at all levels. For these reasons, we put an exceptional amount of thought and consideration into our hiring decisions. We are dedicated to hiring the right person for the job and for our team, even if our timeline strays from the norm.
