I spoke with a recruiter who was impressed that I followed a simple instruction by emailing her. She really liked my background and talked up a big game telling me to increase my salary demands due to my experience. She didn't have any jobs toward the end of the year so I followed up a few times. She replied to the first two emails, but then ghosted me. It was a disappointing experience.
