First, I got contacted with the terms of the freelance writing opportunity. Second, I did a test assignment with them and they said they liked it. Third, I did an interview with some of their team members. Fourth, I did an interview with the CEO (which I found surprising but good).

Got an email asking to do a test writing sample - I declined because they only pay $75 to write five 500 words articles. Not worth my time -- in fact not sure it's worth anybody's time unless you're in high school
