      Entretien pour SEO Manager

      13 juil. 2017
      Candidat à l'entretien anonyme
      San Diego, CA
      Aucune offre
      Expérience négative
      Entretien moyen

      Candidature

J'ai postulé via un recruteur. J'ai passé un entretien chez PACIFIC Digital Group (San Diego, CA)

      Entretien

I was recently contacted by the 6th different recruiting company about this position. Pacific has been trying to fill this position for over a year and a half. I told the recruiter that I already interviewed for the position and how unrealistic they are in their hiring process. The recruiter replied back "Believe me, you are not the first or the last to say this exact thing to me. I have heard that they have so many folks working on this role and no one can find the needle in the haystack that they are seeking." I met with their Sr. Director of Search and another high ranking Search employee. They did the normal spiel on how busy they were and how much work there is to do. If that's the case, then why has it taken nearly 2 years to hire for one role...Either promote from within or just pick someone. It's SEO, we aren't performing open heart surgery here. They asked the normal SEO-client related questions. Nothing crazy or unique. I wasn't given an offer, then again NO ONE IS EVER GIVEN ONE. I later talked to a few fellow SEO colleagues (both below me and above me in skill set). They have all been interviewed by Pacific for this one role and all have been turned down. They constantly post this position on Glassdoor and contact recruiters about it. It's nice to know they can blow so much money doing this. I'm sure their employees wouldn't mind a pay bump instead or something more beneficial. I've been fortunate enough to work at some higher end agencies and they never had this much trouble filling one position. Pacific looks like a great place, but their hiring practices really need to change. Even if I was hired I would tell them they need to have more realistic expectations.

There are recruiters contacting me and a lot of my coworkers about this position pretty much every month. I’ve interviewed and had the same exact negative experience the fellow below had. Some colleagues also went pretty far into the process and didn’t get an offer. I personally think they are interviewing so many people just to get free SEO advice from local folks working at other agencies.

      Entretien

Before all was said and done, I had about 5 total interviews. The first was with the recruiting agency that reached out to me to make sure I was someone they felt comfortable submitting as a candidate. From there, I had separate interviews with an SEO Manager, SEO Supervisor, Director of SEO, and the CEO. I was interviewing remotely, so I can't speak much to the in-person interview process, but all of my interviews were conducted face-to-face using skype. They wanted to know what my experience was with enterprise clients, and had me give them examples of projects I had worked on in the past. They wanted to know how current I was on what was happening in the industry and they gave me some situational questions and had me explain how and why I would handle each situation a certain way. Finally I was given a written assessment at the end where I basically built a deck (about 20 slides) breaking down some tactical reco's and best practices. The process was long, but well worth it. Everyone I interviewed with was really personable and super smart.

      Question 1

For one of the interviews, the person who was conducting the interview asked me to become the interviewer. So he flipped it on me.
