I recently participated in two rounds of virtual interviews with Owens Corning for the HVAC Technician position. Unfortunately, both interviews were conducted without the interviewers turning on their cameras, despite the expectation that I remain visible throughout. This lack of reciprocity created an impersonal and imbalanced dynamic, especially considering that one of the interviewers was a potential hiring manager I would be working with directly. The job description provided prior to the interviews was vague and did not accurately reflect the responsibilities discussed during our conversations. Despite investing time and effort to prepare thoroughly, I received no follow-up communication, feedback, or courtesy notification regarding the outcome of my application. I only discovered my rejection by checking the company’s job portal. This experience highlighted a concerning lack of transparency and professionalism. It is disappointing when organizations expect candidates to demonstrate full engagement while failing to extend the same courtesy. Respect and communication should be mutual, especially during the hiring process. Based on this experience, I would advise others to carefully consider whether this company’s values align with their expectations before pursuing opportunities with them.
