      Entretien

I am glad that I am blessed and saved from such a fraudulent company. I had a bad experience with the most undeserving company {Orbis Research, Wakad, Pune} a new startup which is 3 years old that stands in the market research industry. I had an interview for the position of content editor. They gave me an assignment for editing 2 reports (a lengthy report) of 43,329 words each.

This is a very unfortunate case in recruitment when the candidate is unwilling to understand the merit of a process and one of the challenges that companies such as ours face during our search for talent that fits with our culture. The Candidate was briefed about the role through a face to face interview with our content team leader and the HR executive. She was then asked to work on an assignment which was sent to her later in the day. The assignment required her to edit the language of 2 complete reports by the following Monday. The documents sent to her were raw versions of old work that was already final and out of process. Her work was going to be compared to the final document we had internally and she would have been rated accordingly. The rationale behind the assignment was to understand whether the candidate can perform a task similar to what our internal team already does. We need the candidate to be able to edit documents from different domains and one whole document in a day, because our projects are undertaken within tight deadlines defined by the clients. Unfortunately, the candidate didn’t respond well to the test. She replied and I quote “As discussed on the call, the reports send by G****** has a very lengthy narration more than 43,329 words, for analyzing & judging my editing skills, one report is sufficient to judge & select the candidate. Holding 7+ years of experience this should not be imposed on me. I am working and I can edit only one report. If it is okay, will take it forward or else I am not interested for this job.” To this we responded with and explanation of our process as quoted “The time given to you for the assignment is as per our working pattern. Two report are not for evaluating your speed but to see your understanding for different subjects. We follow certain protocols and evaluation process and rarely change it for any candidate. If you are not comfortable doing this in the given time frame, we respect your decision. Kindly let us know what you wish to do.” The candidate responded arrogantly after this communication as quoted “Thanks for the opportunity. Sorry, I am not interested for this job anymore. I am paid for writing, the test reports given seems to be exploiting candidates for the company's benefit.” The last sentence tells you everything about the candidate’s attitude. She overstepped when she took the liberty to question the company’s ethical practices without facts by saying the company is “exploiting candidates for the company's benefit”. This statement is completely untrue and we invite any and all to come visit our workplace and judge our culture themselves. We are a young company and are looking for dynamic candidates who are open to opportunities and buy into the culture of the company. Any candidate is free to decline the offer if they deem they cannot perform as per our requirements. The candidate was free to say she didn’t wish to continue with the process without commenting negatively on the company’s culture without facts. The candidate’s partner also got involved and harassed our HR executive and the content team leader on call. This is highly unprofessional. We have a happy team working with us. They don’t feel exploited and they are free to give us constructive feedback if they feel any change is necessary. This is unfortunate and we hope no one in the industry has to deal with such candidates.
