      Candidature

J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 4 mois. J'ai passé un entretien chez Optoro (Washington, DC)

      Entretien

My process began in mid-January and ended in late April. The interview process essentially had 4 steps. 1) Phone screener interviews. I first spoke with a recruiter on the phone and had a behavioral screening interview that served to make sure I knew what the company did and had a legitimate interest in the position. Next, I talked to a Director in the position that I was interviewing for. This was also a very casual conversation, going over a lot of what I had already discussed with the recruiter. 2) After passing the phone screeners, I was given an excel assessment to complete. The excel assessment was not difficult if you have the correct relevant skill set, but still required a lot of time and attention to detail. I had about a week to complete this. 3) Upon completion of the excel assessment, I was invited into the office to meet with the director that I had a phone conversation with and other members of the team. The in person interviews were structured as 30 min face to face interviews with 3 different members of the team (2 directors and 1 VP) and one 1 hour time slot for a presentation of the powerpoint that I created based on the excel work. The instructions for this were very clear and the presentation was relaxed. 4) Finally, after some delay, I was invited to come into the office to have a talk with the President of the company. This, like the rest of the interview process, was extremely relaxed. He essentially let me guide the conversation myself, only occasionally stopping to ask me questions. I suggest heavily reading up on the company, founders, and marketspace before getting to this interview so that you can have intelligent questions and talking points in this discussion. I heard back a little over a month after my final interview and accepted the offer. This process was longer than I had anticipated but ended up being well worth it. I like that they were thorough and careful -- which tells me that they really care about hiring people who support their vision and are the best fit for the company. Ultimately, the interview process really reflected the company as a whole. The mood was casual, however there was an understanding that hard work and passion was required during every step. Every person in the process truly cares about the company and what they do and the best way to show that you are a good candidate is to come prepared and speak passionately. Everyone was very nice and helpful. I always got a prompt response when emailing questions. I never crossed paths with any other candidates so I'm unsure how many interviews they offer at any given time but I am sure they choose carefully. Overall, I would recommend that anyone who is interested in applying to do so but to anticipate that it may take some time to hear back -- definitely worth the time and effort!
