I was contacted by three different recruiters about this position. I declined the first two recruiters because I felt that it was in the Oil and Gas industry. The third recruiter reassured me that I wouldn't be working in the Oil and Gas; that I would be working in the Infrastructure, Security, and Monitoring (ISM) industry. I took her word. A couple of weeks later, I had a Teams interview, but no one told me that the hiring manager had to reschedule. Luckily, he did have time to speak with me for a few minutes. He was impressed with my character. Less than a month later, I had an in-person interview, but the person managing the ISM wasn't there. I was told that I would be doing very little ISM work, that most work would be working off-shore. I also suspected that I would be traveling for more than 60% (per job posting), as they had a busy summer. I also found that I wouldn't be "leading" anyone. I smelled a "bait-and-switch". The recruiter followed up with me a few days later. She told me that they liked me, but I had seemed hesitant when it came to traveling. Also I had no issues traveling, it was the working off-shore part that didn't appeal to me, as I had worked off-shore in the past with negative experiences. Honestly, if they had offered me a job, I would not have lasted a year, just due to working off-shore and being away from home longer than expected.
