      Candidature

J'ai postulé via un recruteur. Le processus a pris 5 jours. J'ai passé un entretien chez OpenTech Alliance (Phoenix, AZ)

      Entretien

The interview process was quick and efficient, but ultimately not the right fit for me. The phone screen was a standard HR conversation, but the on-site technical interview felt more like a test of my ability to give specific, singular answers to broad, open-ended questions about security and compliance. This was challenging, as many of these questions have multiple valid solutions, with the best one often depending on the company's existing systems and appetite for risk. One significant red flag that came was the Company's stance on technology and innovation. While I was told some employees were asking for more modern solutions, it was made clear to me that there was significant resistance to anything that was not already approved of, which seemed to contradict the company's stated forward-thinking culture. I was also asked a question that made me uncomfortable: "What would you do if you discovered an issue that might be finable but would impede the company's growth?" I responded that I would present the information to the appropriate personnel so that they could make an informed decision but the decision to proceed was not my call. I was told "Sometimes it's better to take the fine." This felt like a test of my ethical boundaries, and it was a major concern for me. The final "red flag" was during the office tour. I was told the company had low turnover, but the office space was noticeably empty, which seemed to conflict with a previous review I had read. It made me question the information I was being given. In hindsight, it feels like I may have "dodged a bullet." I believe that the Company was looking for a "mini-me" rather than someone who would bring new ideas and unique perspectives to the team. This position seemed to be a combination of several different roles, a common strategy for companies looking for a "unicorn" candidate, but it was not matched by an appropriate level of compensation or a plan for training and mentorship. I wish the team at OpenTech Alliance the best in their search for the right candidate.
