J'ai postulé en ligne. J'ai passé un entretien chez OnePay
Entretien
Had a pleasant discussion with HR / Talent and then ushered into a technical interview with a third party company facilitating, Karat. The third party company has unclear metrics for what a "successful" interview is, and also strictly timegated the technical to 40 minutes. In that 40 minutes, they will talk over you for 30% of it, and to pass, it seems you have to type faster than you've ever typed. I completed 3 of 4 problems in the set and was informed I was not moved to the next round.

Karat Backend Engineer Interview, no DSA problems, but finishing business logic inside of a prebuilt interface based on pasted requirements.
J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 2 jours. J'ai passé un entretien chez OnePay (Chicago Hts) en mai 2026
Entretien
The technical code screening and system design were both outsourced by a company called Karat. I did not interact with anyone from OnePay beyond the initial phone screening with the recruiter. The interviewer read off a script, showed little interest in my process, and following some technical issues on my end I proposed reschedule the interview to maintain the integrity of the interview. I was dismissed, he continued on his script, and delivered low-effort responses to my questions on clarification.
I am firmly against the idea of a third party handling the interview process. It shows a lack of commitment, interest, and inability to acknowledge the importance of culture. Very disappointing interview process.

Brief screening with a recruiter which seemed already like a foregone conclusion, then a Karrot (outsourced) technical interview. I firmly believe companies should not outsource interviewing - for the benefit of the candidate as well as the company.
