      Entretien pour Software Development Engineer

      9 janv. 2020
      Employé (anonyme)
      Bellevue, WA
      Offre acceptée
      Expérience positive
      Entretien moyen

      Candidature

J'ai postulé via un recruteur. Le processus a pris 4 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez OfferUp (Bellevue, WA) en nov. 2019

      Entretien

Informal behavioral screen, technical phone screen or two, on-sites with 4 technical interviews and 1 behavioral interview. Throughout the entire process, I felt the people involved were very friendly and knowledgable. The questions asked were not simple, but the focus of the interviews was less on coding details and more on big picture understanding and algorithm design.

      Questions d'entretien [1]

      Question 1

How would you go about writing a system to manage incoming requests for a system, and implement throttling for SLA purposes?

The entire process was a great experience! First a recruiter phone call, then a technical video screening and then finally an on-site. Everyone was attentive, kind, transparent and answered all my questions.

J'ai postulé en ligne. J'ai passé un entretien chez OfferUp

      Entretien

The first step was an online phone screen. The person I talked to was super nice, the coding section was pretty easy and I had a good time. Then I went on-site for the rest of the interview. Full day, six or so people. I totally choked on the first question, every though it was super easy (nerves, I suppose) and one later one didn't go well, but overall I felt good about the day. They even brought in a VP that wasn't on my original schedule, which I usually think of as a good sign. So when I left, I felt pretty good about it. They said they'd get back to me by the end of the week. (this was a wednesday) I didn't hear anything, so the following Wednesday I called the recruiter to ask how things were going. "Oh, sorry, they decided last week not to make you an offer. I forgot to call you." Seriously? Super unprofessional. If that's what the company is like, I don't want to be anywhere near it.

      Questions d'entretien [1]

      Question 1

The usual data structures and design questions. Nothing too surprising.

Thank you for taking the time to interview with OfferUp. We pride ourselves in being thoughtful in every single hiring decision and using as many data points from every interview you have. Unfortunately it appears that this time the decision was not to hire. We hope that you would consider interviewing again in the future. Also, I am truly sorry for the delayed feedback from the recruiting team. We handle a very high volume of candidates at one time as we're a lean team. Nevertheless, this delayed feedback is not acceptable and I sincerely apologize. I will discuss with the recruiting team to help ensure this is a 1 off and not at all common place.
