I initially volunteered at Oakwood Cemetery as a historian and was invited to join the staff after demonstrating a synergy of skills and personality with existing staff. This process is by no means typical at Oakwood Cemetery and comes with a level of privilege on the part of this applicant as I was able to volunteer before being offered a position.
