      Entretien

      Interview process was shambolic, quite honestly. Had initial interview, and was then asked to produce a technical demo (refactoring an application into AWS, so iac, documentation, presentation etc). Asked to produce this ASAP, therefore gave up a weekend to produce and submit. Then told it was on hold for 3 weeks, after which time I was told the role had been closed. Internally the company must be chaos, therefore would not recommend.

      Great streamlined process with friendly and qualified people. Overall, from the HR, management, technical and upper management I had one of the best interview experiences and it gave me a very good impression of the company. My interview period was a total of 4 weeks – (I took 2 weeks for the technical assignment) My first interview was with the team lead. This is good because you can get right into the expectations of the role and what the team does. It is a two-way conversation that gives you very good insights. In the end of this interview, I was already notified that I would be going through to the next phase. For the 2nd phase I was given a technical assignment which took me about 2 weeks to complete and submit (documentation and code uploaded to GitHub). I then had to present my solution to the technical team. It was an excellent in dept technical interview. The interviewer pointed out an error that I had made in a very collaborative manner, and I really welcomed this as it gave me an impression of how the teams work with each other and support their peers. The assignment was a business case to which you had to provide a working POC on AWS. This assignment tested your automation skills, IAC (Terraform in this case), your ability to understand high availability and disaster recovery (think session handling, load balancing, autoscaling, caching, DB and App redundancy) observability and monitoring, understanding of AWS networking (AZ, Region, VPC, subnets, multiple accounts – think AWS orgs). Basically, the architecture pillars of AWS. *TIP – if you use a service in your POC, know everything about it. Also be ready for questions such as why you did not use this or do it this way. The 3rd and final phase was with the delivery lead for the Benelux Area. In this interview you are given border insights of the company and it gives you the opportunity to understand how you can contribute to make an impact and understand your grow paths within the organization. It was a friendly yet professional meeting that I really enjoyed and got out a lot of information. The offer: I had another interview process running with another company were colleagues that I had worked with in the past gave me very good reviews. It was not an easy decision, but I declined the offer by Nordcloud to honor the good words of my colleagues and to complete some “unfinished business” with the other company.
