I went through three rounds of phone/virtual interviews. All seemed to go well and expectation was for a 4th interview. When waiting for interview time and date, it was communicated to me that the company was going with a different candidate.

First round was typical and smooth speaking with the recruiter. Two days after the first round, I was scheduled for a second round interview within the same week. The second round was with whom I believe the hiring manager and another accountant. Everything felt smooth as the hiring manager was cracking jokes and let a cuss word slip out when trying to sell me on the role and growth opportunity provided with the roll. It was also explained to me why there were vacancies in the team, which was a huge red flag looking at how everything was handled. Towards the end of the interview, the hiring manager told me that for the next steps, they’d definitely want to bring me in for an in person interview sometime within the following week and that I should reach out to the recruiter to workout availability to get that set up. It took multiple times reaching out to finally get a response a week later, which was that I was rejected and that “several other candidates have proceeded forward” I understand not being selected, but being lied to and mislead is a huge company red flag and I would not be surprised if the company has a high turnover rate.
