      Candidature

J'ai postulé via un recruteur. Le processus a pris 2 jours. J'ai passé un entretien chez New Venture Solutions (Brandon, FL) en juil. 2015

      Entretien

The whole process was a joke. I was contacted by a recruiter and saw their linkedin posting for a marketing specialist. It makes it seem like you'll be working on a marketing team in a marketing/ad/pr agency. THIS IS WRONG. They are owned by a parent company, and it works like a pyramid. If you move up high enough you get your own little 'agency'. I walked in and my first red flag was the music blasting from the receptionists desk. Second red flag was the verizon merchandise everywhere. Third red flag was the interviewee sitting next to me who was talking about how he had gone through training and was concerned that something in his background check would make him ineligible to continue, but it was cool because the owner did 'stuff like that' all the time. Fourth red flag was the lack of punctuality in the interview - it took them 20 minutes to see me. Four red flags later and I'm called back by a gentleman of maybe 26 years. He didn't even glance at my resume, asked me questions that didn't make sense in context and when asked to clarify - couldn't or struggled. Dodged questions about salary and what the people actually did. I got VERY frustrated in the interview. It got to a point where I had to ask, very explicitly, what I wanted to know and press for an answer. It was like talking to a 3 year old. Very unprofessional. When asked about the work life balance because of the long and crazy hours the response was: "what's that?" What you will be doing is the following: Working as a rep for Verizon going door to door to people's homes. People who had a previous bad experience with Verizon. Your goal is to win them back and sell them on a new package. The hours I was told are 8am -730 pm M-F and 5am-2 pm on Sat. The average is 6 sales a week. That's a lot of doors getting slammed in your face. They will say that a salary is an option, but not be able to tell you what it is. They will say that the commission structure is 'so much better'. I was told that after a couple weeks, you start to train other people, after some more time doing that then you get to stay in the office and do back end stuff, from there you can promote upwards. It's all about numbers. Also - don't bother trying to get a word in edgewise. It won't happen. I was cut off, interrupted, and had very few opportunities. If you have any sort of social life, significant other, pet that needs attention, or enjoy down time or like sleeping in or having weekends, then this is not the job for you. I wouldn't recommend it at all. Even after being short and frustrated with the interviewer I still got a call back. I chose to not take them up on it.
