There were three rounds of interviews HR round, round with their senior executive on web, face to face with most senior executive. This company is not into analytics or data science and they are looking for somebody to work as an lead to build analytics services and products for them at a pretty low compensation. During the round with senior executive it was clear to me that they don’t have much idea about analytics, he couldn’t even differentiate between business analytics (stats oriented) and deep learning (cs oriented). He was more looking for somebody who can develop software and sell it to clients. After that interview I received a call from their HR coordinator who called me immediately for face to face interview the next day, that person told me that most senior executive is leaving somewhere the next week, later when I called him the following week the most senior executive was present in Mumbai. During the interview with their most senior executive there was nothing much he could ask, as most analytics concepts were new to him and he couldn’t even differentiate between supervised and non-supervised ml techniques. Also, when I asked him about his plans for the analytics division, he was very confused and seemed to have no idea about how he is planning to move. I had doubt that they might be hiring somebody temporary to see if anything works out for them in analytics. The interview followed by an assignment which I completed using supervised ml techniques because the data suited only those, it takes four days to complete that assignment. Overall this is not an analytics firm neither a startup nor a seasoned one. They are just trying to enter a market with many well established companies with no prior preparation.
