Entretien
The original recruiter reached out to me proactively for a screening which went well and they were very responsive. 5-star experience!
Then, the role moved to another recruiter and communication grinded to a halt. I had to reach out numerous times to advance anything, which felt like I was pulling teeth even though they reached out to me originally. Very strange.
Once I finally had the interview with the hiring manager, it got stranger. I wasn't asked any questions about myself and my experience beyond the cliche "tell me about yourself in a few minutes". The rest of the time was him talking about himself, the team and what their ambitions are. I risked being rude, but I ended up having to interject and proactively say how my experience would fit whatever he was going on about. It ended with him saying my experience is exactly what they're looking for, I'm a clear expert in this area, and he wants me to meet the rest of the team in the coming weeks.
Then back to crickets from the recruiter. 5 weeks had passed (and 3 follow-ups) until I finally got a response that I wouldn't be moving forward.
In light of Netflix's corporate policy, I asked if I could get feedback on the results and what I could improve. After a few more weeks of back and forth, I finally had a call with the recruiter. Beyond her saying my experience now wasn't a match, she also said that I had applied to other roles at Netflix in the past that aren't exactly what this role does and they wanted someone who knew exactly what they wanted. Frustrating because I have a wide range of skills that can be applied to many types of roles. Also I was formerly unemployed and honestly desperate to find work however and wherever I could provide value. What a discouraging response that makes me question ever applying here again, not that I will because evidently applying to different roles is disqualifying.

Question 1
Give me the quick hits of your career.
That was it. No other questions were asked in my interview, which is very odd and frustrating.
