I was referred to TripActions through a friend already working at the company....pre-pandemic. They submitted my resume and I received the initial Recruiter screen.
The recruiter was polite, professional and to the point. No issues or anything that stood out as out of the norm. The recruiter noted I was a great fit for the role and wanted me to talk directly with the hiring manager. Great!
The hiring manager didn't get back to me or the recruiter for a few days, but I understand how busy the day can get. We set up a time for a zoom interview and I did all of the expected prep work. I knew the company already, but I prepped to make sure I was the most knowledgeable person in the 'room'.
I logged into the zoom meeting a couple of minutes early and waited for the hiring manager. After 5 minutes my phone rang. It was the hiring manager calling me and asked if we could scrap the video chat and just talk on the phone. Ok. I can do that.
The phone interview turned into him walking around Chicago during commute traffic. He missed most of what I said and I could hear him say, "whoa" a few times....referring to the crosswalks he was trekking through. I asked professional questions at the end, but didn't get much of a response, and one question I asked him to clarify what he meant. He asked me to repeat the original question again.....meaning....he spoke without listening.
The recruiter emailed me later to say it wasn't a fit, which I completely agreed with.
I give the recruiter 5-stars and the SDR/ADR/BDR manager 1-star.
They reached out 6 months later and I politely spoke with another SDR/ADR/BDR manager and they were great. An offer was extended but I did not accept.

Straightforward, normal SDR interview process. recruiter screen, hiring manager/SDR leader interview, and one skills-focused conversation, all in a cold-call scenario. The typical why you, why sales, why now. Do your research and have a strong why.

Had one screening call, and it was one of the weirdest interviews I've ever had. The interviewer sounded like AI, and it didn't seem like any of my answers were even being listened to. I would talk for about a minute or two, answering questions, and the interviewer wouldn't even react or give feedback, just go straight into the next question. A waste of my time.

Overall pretty standard. Only got to second round so it was all virtual in my experience. Their energy is very much like the typical SF based saas company maturing into going public.
