There were three recruiters I was dealing with. The first one reached to me on LinkedIn. I've sent my resume, told about other recruitment processes I'm currently in, and roughly described my financial expectations, based on the offers I had on the table. I was invited later to technical interview, which took 90 minutes, then later I was invited to second technical interview, which took one hour. After that I've received positive feedback, and we started to negotiate my salary. I was notified that I'll be Independent Contractor, so there are no additional benefits, and I need to calculate things like insurance, taxes, use of personal hardware, etc. into expected salary by myself. I've updated them with current list of offers, which was accepted, and later sent them a proposal, which was taken by recruiter to management team. Few days later I've received answer that my proposal is too expensive for their budget, which was in fact lower than my range provided at the beginning of recruitment process. If I knew their budget at the beginning of the process, I would pass, and save a lot of time on both sides. The offered salary was 5100 USD/month gross.
