At first the interview process appeared to be one of the best processes I had ever experienced, but the reality was far from my initial thoughts. I applied online and after one week, I was surprised to be contacted for an initial phone screening. After the phone screening I was e-mailed the next day for an in-person interview the following week. Up until this point everything seemed to be going great. I was told they were looking to hire someone fairly soon and that I would be notified by X date. After a long two hour panel interview with 5 people, I was never contacted. What is the most upsetting is that they knew I had flown to meet with them and was also provided a specific response date by the hiring manager. After a month and several attempts on my part, I still had not received an update. Luckily I contacted the receptionist directly who was kind enough to provide me with a different e-mail to contact.
Thankfully the Sr. Recruiter quickly responded and later told me that the position had been closed. I understand that these type of things happen on a regular basis, but the bare minimum someone could have done is update me on the matter. For a Fortune 500 company, I am genuinely surprised by the lack of professionalism. I really hope they improve this process and stick to their word, and if a decision hasn't been made then notify and not leave a candidate in limbo.
Overall, the interview process itself is quite strenuous with 30 minute back-to-back sessions, but each interviewer had her own set of questions and really seemed eager to get to know me and what I can offer to the company, which I found refreshing. The questions varied from behavioral, to cognitive, to scenario.
