Had the interview with a Director and the CEO. Had the job description sent to me the previous day by the Recruiter because they saw I would fit into a different and more senior position. Also saw the reviews here.
The interview started without the CEO, just the normal background questions about my professional journey. The Director had questions that were related with the role and clearly prepared for this. Then the CEO started with his questions, that he couldn't find and didn't seem at all prepared like the Director. And the first question reflected that, because it was about training and there wasn't a single worthy mention about that in the very detailed job spec. I answered the question separating training and coaching and the CEO said it was the same, "according to the UK translation". Not being a native UK speaker I wasn't impressed by the choice of words, and from someone that runs a multi lingual business even less. I made it clear that it wasn't the same and from that point on the interview didn't make any sense anymore. The CEO talked about processes, people and leadership, but focused and asked only about processes. Only. How I would map something and how important this would be for the business. Job spec literally out the window. That question could make sense along with the other two components, just that it looks like I walked in the wrong interview. Personally I believe he didn't like that I corrected him in the previous question, and I could see the body language coming from the Director was uncomfortable.
I can completely relate to the other review left here about the CEO and his demeanor also in an interview. And I would like to make it clear that one person doesn't reflect the entire company, both Recruiter and Director were very professional, however I asked not to be considered for the role after this experience.
