Disappointing Recruitment Experience with GAP and NEXT
I recently applied for Visual Merchandising roles at GAP and NEXT through LinkedIn, using AI tools to ensure my profile and experience matched the advertised job criteria. My background strongly aligns with what both companies were looking for, based on my previous experience in visual merchandising.
For GAP, I was contacted to schedule a phone screening. I confirmed the date and time with the recruiter and waited the entire day, but no one called. I followed up afterward and never received a response.
For NEXT, I applied for a position that was a perfect fit for my skills and experience. However, I received the same automated rejection email twice:
“However, unfortunately we have decided not to take your application further at this point in time. While we appreciate the effort you have put into your application, we don’t feel that this role was the perfect fit.”
Overall, the lack of communication and generic responses were disappointing. It would be great to see both companies improve their recruitment process by providing more personalized feedback and following through on scheduled interviews.

Very thorough, but engaging and enthusiastic about hiring for the role. There were some general "have to ask" questions, but the more challenging ones seemed specific to my experience and the work I have completed in previous roles that I have worked in
