Started with a phone screen with the recruiter to talk about my experience and about the position they’re hiring for. Next was a phone interview with the hiring manager. She had an attitude and kept interrupting me while I was answering her questions. I was already set to drop out of this opportunity based on this call alone as I can only imagine how miserable it would be to work for someone like her, but I was contacted hours later to come in for an in-person interview with a panel of 9 managers/staff. Scheduling this in-person interview was also a terrible experience. The recruiter reached out to me via email with interview times during my work hours. I responded back by saying I won’t be able to meet those dates/times and suggested other dates/times. He rejected those times and asked if I still wanted to interview with them—who says that to a potential candidate? I proposed Veterans Day since I had the day off but they didn’t. The in-person interview was another waste of time with interviewers giving me attitude by asking me smart-sounding yet stupid questions. It did not feel like a genuine, professional interview of trying to gauge my fit for the job but rather a chance to hide their insecurities by bringing someone down who has achieved a lot in a short period of time. My application status was changed to “Not Selected” the same day and was not notified of this at all via email/call. I’m glad it turned out the way it did because I would not be able to work with incompetent, unprofessional, and childish staff like them. Other better opportunities await.
