By far the worst interview experience I've had in 15+ years. After a preliminary interview with recruiting (they reached out to me) I was told that a "demo" of the product is the first part of the interview process. I think the intended idea is great, but the actual 'demo' was problematic, offensive, and required participation from me without any previous communication whatsoever and felt like a setup. I entered the Mursion portal and after a quick introduction from the Mursion guide, was placed into an HR-like situation. I was told by the guide that I was to "call out" any microaggressions. I wasn't given any detail HOW to give that feedback. I was then immediately placed to be the intermediary decision maker between two colleagues - one bl*ck and one wh*te - discussing the potential promotion of another bl*ck colleague. It was an extremely sensitive area and given that I'm not interviewing for an HR position, and had not prepared for the situation, I felt very on the spot and it was actually a traumatic experience for me. Immediately after the "demo", I was interviewed by a consultant who almost immediately mentioned the PR nightmare they had the previous year regarding an article published about their product using wh*te actors to play bl*ck characters as a form of "bl*ck face". I was caught off guard by this and I asked how they have addressed that going forward as well as voice matching. I mentioned that the voices of the actors didn't quite match the look of the avatars I spoke to. When I said this, her face dropped and I could tell she just wanted to get off the Zoom. I was sent a standard rejection email from HR (despite the fact that I never applied) within 12 hours. The bottom line is if Mursion employees/interviewers are uncomfortable answering sensitive questions - they should not put interviewees in sensitive situations that have NOTHING to do with the actual role they are interviewing for. Furthermore, I would NEVER use this product.
