      Entretien

A few weeks after applying online, I received an email from HR telling me that they considered I did not want to work for Mujin (?!). I therefore replied that I was actually still interested in working for the company (and still am). As I was remote, we did meetings via Skype. First meeting was with the manager himself, who gave me a very positive image of the company (name is Kou). He is smart, gentle and speaks very good English. While asking a few questions, he somehow made us do a tour of the office, which I am grateful for as I got to see cool things. At the end of our discussion, manager asked me to send him a document depicting a technical topic of my choice. I took one entire day in the week-end to depict game development I am doing for an old console and sent it to him. He liked it and agreed we could go on to the next step. A technical test was conducted another day. Basically, there were 4 exercices to complete within 2 hours. It was not required to do all of them, and coding language was free to choose. Manager asked to avoid as much as possible looking for a solution on the Internet. Code had to compile on first try. Delivering non working code wad a no go. Solutions had to be uploaded on Mujin's drive. Here were the exercices (I did this interview ~5 or 6months ago, so please apologize for lack of accuracy): - Provide solutions to any 3rd degree equation - Implement a stack (push, pop, etc.) - Something related to file sorting - Tell why a script was not working fast with an older version of Python I was quite stressed and did not perform that well, but know that I did not have the required competencies to succeed anyways. Company is indeed looking for people who can perform better and faster from day one. Hiring manager did not tell me so, but that's what I understood. I did not get an answer from him, and had to ask HR to get a confirmation of the result (under the form of a generic email). I continue to train myself in the evening so I can eventually work for such a dynamic company one day. Good luck to you if you read this! ;-)
