The interviews were good but at the end of my 5th round, I received a call from the recruiter saying my experience was not enough for the role. It was very upsetting and disrespectful since they had already taken 5 rounds and wasted a month of my time :(

Total of 7 interviews. Standard questions regarding past experience and desired career trajectory. Applied for one position and learned in the first 30 minutes of a 2 hour interview that they were reconsidering the “direction” of the role, specifically the “cost of the hire”. Had cleared my salary expectations with the recruiter during the initial screen but apparently the company decided they were looking for someone cheaper. Next was asked to interview for another position. Heard back from recruiter after that interview that they decided they didn’t want the role to be a manager level, after all. They wanted to expand the role to be a director of an entirely different team. After 2 months and 7 interviews for 2 positions that they were never sure they wanted to hire for in the first place - received a message from the recruiter that “it’s a pass”.
