      Entretien

Met with hiring manager twice over video conference (she was based in London) in the Hong Kong office, then spoke with the 2 bosses of hiring manager over the phone (they are based in New York). About 1-2 weeks in between follow up, which is normal for an organization of this size.

1 word - despicable. For such a big firm, they really need to fix their HR practices. HR were at first really nice in reaching out on the back of my Linked In application. The woman over the phone, who I won't name because it would ruin her career, but she seems to be the main HR contact on all jobs compliance related, was so refreshing to speak with at first (or so I thought). First round chat was with her and lasted just under an hour. She said that the team would move quite quick and I should hear back in a week with potential interview dates. 2 months passed and still no response. I thought this HR lady was nice, so all I did was follow up via email in hopes that she would respond with some positive feedback. After losing all hope and not getting a single response from her, I finally moved on and began applying for other places. As such a reputable firm, I really thought HR would at least tell me where I stood. No thoughts about people who are actually struggling with jobs, money and applications. Completely heartless. Couple of months had passed, got an automated email to say I hadn't made the cut, went straight in my junk. Next day - she calls me 5 times in one day! I picked up thinking it was just another unknown caller, but low and behold, she told me SHE made a mistake and sent me the rejection email, when I'd actually selected and chosen to interview. Super unprofessional. But I still gave her, and the job, the benefit of the doubt. She and the team sorted my interview Monday the following week, which was super fast. So I thought things were looking up! The in person interview went really well and the interviewer told me they'll get back to me in less than a week. I waited and I waited, still no response. To get someones hopes up for a job, then reject them mistakenly, then to invite them to an interview, the least this woman could do as a HR representative is give me a call and tell me I wasn't selected. It's not personal, it's called just being human. Instead she and the team made me wait another 2 months, and after getting no where with emailing her, I finally decided to pluck the courage to call. She picked up and couldn't even remember who I was... really awful HR representative. I know we all meet so many people in a day, but she took literally half an hour trying to find my application. So careless and disrespectful and just beyond completely unprofessional. In the end, all she said over the phone was "Oh yes you were rejected and should have got an email". I hadn't- and I must say, this has been the worst HR experience of my 10+ years working. Really disappointed that I even bothered applying. Found another job with another bigger bank, and glad I didn't get sucked into this crappy atmosphere of work, where no one gets treated like a human. HR are the first point of contact for any one applying for any firm, and should know people skills. Don't just be nice to people when you need them/when you make a mistake in their application. How about genuinely having an interest in making someones HR experience memorable in a good way? Isn't that what HR are meant to do??

      Question 1

Talk me through step by step how you'd conduct an interview for someone within exchanges division? Why MS? Describe your current role and transferrable skills? Are you ok with 3 days in the office a week?
