      Candidature

J'ai postulé en ligne. J'ai passé un entretien chez Mitsubishi (Orlando, FL) en oct. 2020

      Entretien

I started with a brief phone interview with a recruiter, who was very nice, then I was passed on to the hiring manager. He was very friendly, and we did a virtual interview during which he told me more about the job and confirmed that my skills aligned. After that, it turned a little bit chaotic. I was told I would need to come in for 2 in-person interviews, one on a Friday and one on a Monday. On Thursday, I was told that I would only need 1 in-person interview on Monday instead and it would be 2-hours to meet with the quality engineering team, and then meet with managers and other key players in the plant who I would be working with often. The first part of the interview with the team went fine, but when I got to the second part of the interview, one of the managers continuously kept saying that he "just didn't see" me as a candidate for this position based on my lack of experience in the power industry. He asked me how I would be able to do the job without the experience, and then when I responded with a first overview of my learning plan, and then a thoroughly outlined learning plan, he said that he still couldn't see it working. The posting did not call for power industry experience, and no one in the 3 interviews before that had said anything like that, but this one manager just continuously said he didn't know how I would make it work. This is also an entry level position, so it was discouraging to hear that he was so positive that I needed that experienced. I just wish that I had be warned in the 3 previous interviews that they were looking for someone with this kind of experience. The hiring manager told me they'd get back to me within 2 days. I had heard nothing after a week, so I reached out to the recruiter. She responded saying that she would check, and then responded with a copy and pasted rejection email. I responded thanking her and asking if any of the interviewers had any feedback and she never got back to me.
