I met with Jason, the Director of Product, hit it off pretty well. He seems like a very nice person. After my initial interview with Jason, I was given a brief assignment to test my responses to project and product management scenarios. I then had an interview with Jason and AJ, an Engineering Manager where we reviewed my answers to the assignment. AJ also seemed very nice and knowledgeable. My final interview was with Donald, a partner at MercuryWorks. Another great interview. I received very positive feedback from all 3 people I met. In my final interview with Donald, he asked me what compensation/benefits I was looking for. I told him $150,000 and 4 weeks of PTO (instead of the 3 weeks of PTO advertised in the posting). Donald said that wouldn’t be a problem. The range on the job description was $110,000 - $150,000.
I received the offer and it was $143,000 and 3 weeks of vacation. Also, Health Benefits kick in only after 90 days. I countered with $160,000 and asked why the offer only referred to 3 weeks of PTO (I assumed they expected me to counter considering I had already verbally negotiated with a partner in the company and was told it wasn’t a problem.) I would have accepted $150,000 and 4 weeks of PTO like we discussed but that wasn’t what was offered.
Donald rescinded the offer instead continuing the conversation.
Read the Glassdoor reviews of the people who work there. Looks like I dodged a bullet anyway.
