I applied for a position online and then found a friend who worked there who also referred me internally. About a week or two later, I received a phone call with a general summary of the position and questions about my education and experience. I was then invited to an interview with the HR person and it was pretty relaxed. There were some standard "why do you want to work here/ think you are a good fit/ interested in cancer research?" questions followed by some behavioral questions. I was then sent to interview with the PI and their assistant, during which they mostly described the position and only asked a few questions about experience.
