I applied for a Budapest (EU) based a Social Media Product Owner opening. The first steps went well, I submitted my resumé, then the San Francisco office got back to me relative really fast with an interview appointment. I deeply believed that I could be one of the best fit for this position in our region as I co-founded the first local social media monitor tool in 2008 in my country, not to mention I dealt with other relevant territories during the recent years. I was impressed of this opportunity, so spent really huge load of hours with preparation for the call. I researched the company's new things (as I knew them from our decade old benchmarking, for our local product development), the culture, put together a long list of my questions & ideas (and sent it before the call to give time to flick through), even requested a free trial from the local sales rep to study the products in action, etc. Then I received a cancellation email 34 minutes before the booked meeting that we need to re-schedule because of family issues, with recommending a new time-slot for a few days later. I instantly wrote back that this timing is not really good for me (which I reckon could be somehow understandable with 9 hour timezone difference) and how about a few hours later that day... I did not get any feedback for days, so on the proposed day I sent a kind ping about what's next. Then hours later, just 25 minutes before the suggested (but not approved by me) time I received a "I'll call you on Skype in 25 min" email. I got offline meanwhile (it was early evening according to local time), that's why I sent few lines back just hours later saying sorry for the misunderstanding and asking a new opportunity for an interview. Few days later, after a new mail of mine only this came back: "Hi, this week is really busy for me. I'll get back to you with next steps." After this two-liners I got nothing back at all... despite I sent 5+ polite enquiries in the next few weeks, representing that I was really motivated and interested in this position. This experience was soul-killing for me on some extent & pretty unprofessional according to my values. I can totally understand if somebody is unbelievably busy, it happens, but please always invest 3 minutes of your time to say a honest and respectful "sorry, no" for candidates if you played with his/her time and dedication.

      Entretien

There were four rounds of interviews, including one team interview where you could actually have a discussion with the team itself. All went in a positive mood, the interviewers were open about the challenges and difficulties the team had; the interviews were about typical product questions and delivery/agile aspects.
