I applied online and received an email a week and a half later to complete an art test. The art test was simple; it was to create a dress for one of their characters. They gave me two days to complete the art test and submit it via drop-box. I received an email to schedule an on-site job interview with the art director during the following week.
I arrived at their place and the interview took place in a small meeting room. The art director, who conducted the interview, was really nice and laid back. He made me feel welcomed and the whole interview felt really casual; it really felt like we were just having a nice conversation rather than a job interview. The conversation we had was mainly about my education, experience, and talking about my process of 3d modeling and texturing. He told me about the company, what to expect, and the software they use as well as their pipeline. The conversation did go on tangents at times, but it was overall a good experience. The interview with the art director lasted about an hour and he then introduced me to their lead 3d artist. I had a one on one conversation with the lead artist whom explained more in detail what the job entailed. We talked about similar things I had already talked to with the art director. I was asked if I knew how to use 3ds max and if I knew how to skin. At the time I only knew how to do those things using Maya, but I explained that I could quickly learn how to using 3ds max. The interview with the art lead was a little less than forty minutes. The art director came back to talk to me and told me about the salaries, benefits, etc. I was told I would receive a call the following day to let me know if I had landed the job or not. I received a call the next day , but unfortunately was told they had chosen a different candidate :(. The whole process from the application to the interview was overall positive, and the staff I came in contact with seemed like really nice people.
