      Entretien

I recently took part in the interview process with Meeopp and I can vouch for the reviewer below who wrote about being ghosted by the company. I was first reached out through WhatsApp and I had a brief phone interview with what companies normally call HR but has a different title in this company. We’ll refer to her as Anonymous Antelope. AA gave me a task to do that I had to submit in two days. I sent the task in and was invited to two more rounds of interviews, both within the same week. The final interview, however, was when everything started slowing down to a halt. AA suggested a time and date for the final interview which I unfortunately couldn’t make so we confirmed a new date and time. On the morning of the interview, I was told that the interview had to be postponed. I was left hanging as there was no alternative date nor time provided. And then began a series of back and forths between me and AA, mostly initiated by me, trying to figure out when the co-founder was available again, only to be told the co-founder was going to be out of the country that week, written in a matter-of fact tone nonetheless. The lack of professionalism and common courtesy are absolutely appalling. It is not my job to keep asking the hr when the rescheduled date would be. Additionally, I find it very hard to believe she didn’t know her co-founder’s schedule, especially if she needed to check his availability. Anyhow, I waited a little more than a week to follow up with AA. No reply from her. I waited another week and this time, AA said she would get back to me but surprise, surprise she didn’t. I followed up with her again, almost a whole month since the original date when the final interview was supposed to be held, and of course, no response. When I finally get a reply, it was just to tell me the position I interviewed for basically no longer existed. I thank her for her time and moved on. A month passes, AA suddenly contacted me to say the position is now available again but when I asked her how we would proceed, once again, ghosted. This experience made me reflect on a couple of things about this company: 1. Your hiring staff should learn some “people” skills. If this was after the first or second round of interview, I would assume I didn’t advance to the next stage. But this case was entirely different. If there was something going on with the company or the co-founder wasn’t able to find time for some reason, at least be professional enough to let me know instead of leaving me hanging and wondering what in the world was going on. 2. You have a job other than hiring, guess what, I and many job seekers in the world also have a full-time job. WHILE finding time to do your tasks after work and take unpaid leave to go to your interviews. You may be screening us during your interviews, well, so are we. This experience clearly shows the disorganization and the lack of respect your company has to candidates. 3. Your company works with schools and educators. Your program requires feedback from these schools to know what is working and what is not and to know if any improvements to the program are needed. Isn’t it ironic that you are unable to deliver what you expect from your customers? Good luck to all those who are interested in applying to the company. And to those who were rejected or ghosted like me, you dodged a bullet.
