A Skype interview with an HR person that was one of the most condescending professional experiences of my life, and I've been at this for a while. Standard questions about companies I've worked for, including employee size and revenue, followed with a very self-satisfied "we're a bit bigger than you're used to." Also wanted a complete salary history which I politely refused to give, preferring to focus instead on the target range I had already specified, and that's where it really went south. HR person was quite insistent that they needed that information and asked it of everyone, not just me. Then said to me, "Is it because you made less? Is that why you won't tell me?" Never heard from them again and grateful for it.

They waste your time. Multiple emails and calls to schedule an interview "right away" only to have it rescheduled day of interview or 24 hours before. In my case, a person I was scheduled to interview with did not show up -- twice. A feeble apology was offered. They respect their time but they have zero respect for yours. if they treat you like that as a candidate imagine how it will be as an employee. I had to present to a committee during one of my interviews and the interview was at 8 am. No good morning when people joined and no chit chat to make the candidate feel comfortable. Please, someone get these people a lesson in soft skills. With the exception of one person, each person I interviewed with seemed stressed, distracted and not at all happy. An all-around poor experience.
