      I applied through LinkedIn and received a message from a recruiter about two weeks later. We messaged each other and set up a phone interview to take place a few days later. Phone interview went well, questions included what do you know about McMaster. The phone interview lasted almost an hour, at the end of the call I was invited to an in person interview the following week. A red flag should have went up when the recruiter sent me the wrong information. He sent me another candidates interview date and time. I emailed him and he corrected it. I immediately went to Glassdoor for reviews of the company. I was discouraged after reading some of the reviews but decided to see for myself. Once I arrived I was asked to fill out another job application in paper, seemed odd but ok. After waiting 30 minutes past my scheduled interview time, a soft spoken man advised me I would interviewed shortly. It was hard to understand him, I thought he said he and another individual would interview me. Once I was called in, he was off to the side while a very young female interviewed me. My first impression was that of a scene straight out of the Stepford wives movie. They both seemed very robotic, almost fake. I was advised I would sit with two individuals that do the job I was interviewing for. The sit down portion went fine, I saw the job function mad it seemed very easy. I asked a few questions regarding what I had read on Glassdoor regarding advancement. The comments on Glassdoor are correct!! No advancement, it’s a dead end job. I have a BA and worked hard for it, I don’t want a job where I can’t advance in some way. McMaster-Carr only hire college graduates but who wants to just do the same job without growth? The shadowing was followed by another interview with a hiring manager. At this point I was very discouraged and just wanted to get out of there. The lack of advancement was not addressed by the hiring manager directly but was alluded to. If you’re looking for a 9-5 job with no growth, this is the place for you. They try to make up with benefits which sound good but I didn’t a degree to have a dead end job.

      Entretien

      Theres a phone Call and then an in person interview which also has a test. In the test you respond to fake emails to get a sense of your problem solving skills.

      Interview process was with a recruiter then on site for about 2.5 hours. Very standard behavioral questions - nothing intended to trick or stump you. I interviewed with a team member and someone in HR. They were both kind and the company seemed to have a strong culture.

      Reached out to a recruiter via LinkedIn. Very pleasant and scheduled a phone interview. The phone interview went well. A few days after I was invited to an onsite the following week. Very pleasant introduction, but shortly after time the first person I met for the interview had somewhat of an off-putting vibe, friendly, just short and only asked a few questions that were somewhat unrelated to my experience or the role. You'll take a "writing exercise" that is just responding to a customer's email. The second person I met with was great and was like we've known each other for 10-years. I feel like they have a great recruiting team, but behind the scenes, it seems like I dodged a bullet with the actual management team who conducted the first interview. They followed the interview up with a generic rejection email the day after with no feedback. I disagree with their approach in the job function itself, so maybe it was not a right fit for me either. Overall not a positive or negative experience. Whole timeline was around 2 weeks start to finish.
