The interview process was seamless. The team was transparent in communication and I was offered the job about 4 days after interviewing. The company culture seems great. Remember to use the interviewers name when speaking, it really helps :)

Very business-like, but also quite tense and uneasy. I imagine this was a reflection of what it might be like to work there. This was not a conversational style interview, only question after question. There were multiple hiring managers discussing various positions with me, so it was very confusing to keep up. There should have been multiple sessions scheduled instead of cramming so much into one time slot. I interviewed at McLeod after my job at my previous employer being eliminated in a workforce reduction. One of the hiring managers kept prodding me about this over several questions and seemed to be trying to coerce a confession that I had actually been fired. I found this to be highly distasteful and probably indicative of the working atmosphere at McLeod. There would have been plenty of ways for them to verify the reason for my dismissal if they were so interested. There were other tense moments during the interview where this same manager practically scolded me, telling me that my responses were not specific enough and that I had given a cop out answer. I was also given a logic problem to solve and was asked to sketch out my response on the white board in the room. I solved the problem and was discussing how I arrived at my conclusion. I was told to take another look at it because I had missed a small detail. After admitting that I did not see any mistakes, I was told that they were "just kidding" and that I had solved the problem correctly. They told me they wanted to see my reaction to being told I had made a mistake. I thought this was also unnecessary and did not reflect well on their workplace culture. I was tempted to walk out when that happened, but managed to keep a smile on my face and stayed for the duration. The interviewers used up almost all of the time that was allotted, leaving me very rushed to ask the questions I had prepared for them. I was rushed out of the interview and left there feeling stressed and entirely uncomfortable. I can only imagine how the people that work there feel when they leave everyday if I had that feeling after only one interview. I also never heard from anyone at McLeod since the interview, but would not accept an offer from them even if they did call me back. So for me, the interview was also an educational experience. The top brass at McLeod need to get a handle on their managers and stress proper interview etiquette for the interviewer.

      Question 1

Numerous "situational" questions. Name a time when you _____________. How did you handle the situation and what did you learn from the experience? Describe your ideal work situation. What do you think makes a good manager? Most all the questions they asked are found on any interview prep web site. They also seem to expect no deviation from the "standard textbook" responses to these questions.
