      Candidature

J'ai postulé via un recruteur. Le processus a pris 4 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez Mayden (Bath, Angleterre) en mai 2023

      Entretien

      1. 30 minute phone interview with one of the team members with the usual intro questions - talking about past experience and going through CV. Came away with a good feeling about the position and was excited to progress. 2. 30 minute, 30 question IQ test and company application form to be submitted with Identification. Not enough time given for the IQ test to be honest. I had one minute to do each logic task. 3. Technical interview with two new team members. They asked me to look at a block of Ansible and Terraform code, describe what it was doing as well as a task to install nginx and host a secure web page on an AWS Linux instance. Came away with a good feeling that I had demonstrated some knowledge, despite not having any practical experience with Terraform and been out of work for 18 months and not referred to any documentation during. I was really hoping to at least been invited to discuss the tests on a following day, which would've been the decent thing to do. I am very aware of my abilities and limitations and so would have been very open to discussing my knowledge deeper or explaining any knowledge gaps or mistakes I made in the tests. Knowing full well I had a small amount of experience(because I had told them during my first interview) with AWS and their JD stating that practical experience with it was a "nice to have but not essential", I did not get to progress to the final stage because they "wanted someone with more cloud experience". So they wanted a certified cloud engineer? It's a real shame they focussed on that so much because I was very excited about the position, they have their head too high in the clouds...lol. I have other technical skills to bring to the position such as database administration which were listed in the JD as a "nice to have" but they invited me to interview specifically because I have this experience. It was discussed once during the first stage and then became an afterthought. I never got a chance to talk in depth about it, demonstrate any technical ability with it or even explain deeper how my experience with it would've been useful and valuable. So that was also a real shame. There was a lot of waiting in between stages as well, so be wary if you value your time.
