The initial interview with two interviewers was great! They were super friendly and enthusiastic. One of them was retiring but still took the time to give her thoughts on her many years of experience at Marsh.
The second round interview was the complete opposite. It was with the new Regional Marketing leader in the Middle East who was abrasive and rude. She joined the interview late to say she needs to put me on hold but wanted to let me know she was there. From the very start she gave me the impression she did not want to interview me. That it was an important role (why would I apply for an unimportant position at my level I wonder?), rudely said to me there is no relocation, did you know that and do you want to proceed? Left me a few minutes to ask questions and when I asked one about culture from her last place to this one, she aggressively stated "Oh ask the newbie the hard questions will you?" You're an MD you can answer that rather easy question. If you already had someone else in mind or did not want to interview me, a kind we have filled the position so cancelling this interview would have been acceptable versus wasting my time and clearly hers. It's a shame too that Marsh does not send feedback forms on their interview process or even give specific feedback to candidates whose time they wasted. Instead two weeks later, I received the bog standard unfortunately we will not be proceeding response. I was so excited to finally see an opportunity at a company I had long admired but this experience has soured my taste for Marsh McLennan.
