J'ai postulé en ligne. J'ai passé un entretien chez MOO

      Entretien

I had an initial 30-minute call with a member of MOO's HR team. They asked me to confirm some details about myself (current notice period and salary expectations etc), as well as why I wanted to work at MOO and what I thought I could bring to the team. The person conducting the interview didn't really give a good first impression of MOO, their low energy during the call made it seem like they weren't bothered about being there or creating a positive and encouraging first meeting. Their behaviour and attitude during the call left me feeling quite deflated about the role and whether it was right for me. Despite this poor first impression, they came back to me a few days later and invited me to complete a creative brief for the next stage in the interview process. For a senior level role this was very, very extensive. The brief I was sent requested big brand ideas which included taglines/campaign lines, short ad copy and social media ideas, homepage heroes/landing page takeovers for three different MOO products and full email copy for a product of my choice. The brief was sent to me on a Wednesday evening and I was given until the following Tuesday to complete it. I spent the next 5 days putting together an extensive 34-page creative presentation, packed with copy and ideas. While waiting to hear back from MOO, I received a generic rejection email stating that they didn't want to move forward with my application. This completely threw me as it didn't refer to completed task or provide any feedback. I managed to get in touch with the HR person to find out this was an automated email and sent in error. It took MOO about 2 weeks to get back to me with an official update and it was good news. After seeing my response to their creative brief they wanted to interview me again. Great, I thought! However, I wasn't sent any details about the interview. I wasn't told who I'd specifically be meeting with, when they were available, whether it was a video call or an in-person meeting, what the interview would involve or how long it would be. Nothing. I then spent about a week and a half trying multiple times to get back in touch with their HR team to arrange my next (and what I hoped was the final) interview. I'd not heard anything or received any feedback on my work and it felt like I was being ghosted. When I finally did hear back from them, I was told that there'd been a communications mix up. The creative team had decided to rescind their offer of an interview and they no longer wanted to meet me as they'd 'decided to go down a different route'. The whole process was a mess from start to finish if I'm honest. And although I was disappointed to not get through to the final round of interviews or be offered the role, I can only imagine how stressful or disorganised MOO might be internally if this how poorly they manage their hiring process. To top it off, I was told I'd received feedback from the creative team on my task and further context around why I wasn't right and I've heard nothing...

One of the better interview experiences I've had, with clear communication at each stage: 1) screening call (online) and written task (completed in own time) 2) interview with Head of Copy (online) 3) interview with CD and Head of Art, values interview with team members (both in person at the London office)
