J'ai postulé via un recruteur. Le processus a pris 4 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez Lutron Electronics (Coopersburg, PA) en août 2010

      Entretien

I'm still going through the interview process, been to the facility three times so far and although I have not gotten a job offer yet, they have assured me that they want me to build a career with the company. They have been very promising and have told me that they are impressed with me, they just want to find the perfect starting position for me. It has been six weeks since my initial contact with the company. I met a Lutron recruiter at a career fair on a Saturday and they called me on Tuesday to schedule an interview. I interviewed that Thursday and spoke to four people. They called me early the next week and scheduled another interview for that Friday where I spoke to three more people. The next week they told me that they were writing up a job offer and would get back to me. 1 1/2 weeks later they said that they wanted me to come back for another interview the following day for another type of job role. I interviewed with six more people, most of which were incredibly friendly and engaging, but one person was very quiet and did not ask a lot of questions. At the end of my discussion with him he asked if I had any questions, and I asked what his role was with the company. He looked surprised at my question, but I wanted to know because his title would determine which questions I would ask him. The last person that I spoke to told me that they would likely bring me back in for at least one more interview. Overall, it has been a great experience so far. The only difficulties were trying to get out of work early for an interview with Lutron, trying to be patient while waiting for a call back, and trying to figure out what they are interviewing me for. The people are friendly and enthusiastic, it's a very clean and impressive facility. The company itself obviously cares a lot about their employees, based not only on what some employees have told me, but also from what I have seen. The fresh water system went down the day of my first interview, so the company purchased large display coolers filled with cases of water for everyone. Some of the employees did not care for the coffee, so they company changed their vendor. It's the little things that make people feel appreciated. I've been told by nearly every person there that I can expect to move around within the company many times, because they want everyone to have a lot of experiences in different roles within the company to grasp a full understanding of how each department works. Learning what each department goes through not only gives people a better appreciation for what others have to go through, and how your job affects everyone else, but it also makes you see things that you would not otherwise realize if you stayed inside of your box. It sounds like they really want all of their employees to have long, successful careers.

      Questions d'entretien [2]

      Question 1

Three light bulbs and three switches - is there any engineer who has not heard this? If you don't know the question and the answer, then look it up before interviewing.

      Question 2

Role playing (for Technical Applications position): A customer calls and says that their dimmer isn't working. How do you handle this? (Note - you should speak as if you have answered the phone and you are talking directly to the customer. Think about what you would ask them to determine the issue, and lead through the conversation to come up with a solution)

There was a lot of "run around", and they thought very highly of themselves despite being a medium sized engineering company. Their requirements were not clear from the start, and are very high for their level. A red flag is a IQ question.

The interview lasted 30-45 minutes with general technical questions, problem-solving exercises, and character trait questions. It was not a high-pressure situation and I did not seem to get their target answer. I did manage to come up with other feasible solutions to the problem.

I'm currently at school, last semester in December, Lutron contacted me say they wanna have an phone interview with me, frankly, I was busy preparing my finals, it was just not a good time. I didn't prepared well for the interview (but achieve good academic grades though, don't know if I made the right decision). Anyway, they didn't offer me this position. The questions are all behavior questions. I can still remember some of them, here they are: What you know about Lutron's current Project? Why you pick your major in undergrad? Do you try something else before you pick that major? Besides academic study, what else do you do in you undergrad? What did you learn from it? Why you choose to pursue master’s degree instead of starting your career right away? Why you choose ** University for your graduate education? Talk about your working experience, how you demonstrate your value in it? Please prepare for those questions, they may ask you too. Good luck!
